NATAN PADOIN
FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF SANTA CATARINANatan Padoin is a professor and researcher at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Food Engineering at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC).
He develops research, supervises projects at the scientific initiation, master's and doctoral levels and supervises postdoctoral students at UFSC. He is Supervisor of the Laboratory of Materials and Scientific Computing (LabMAC). Member of the research groups I2P - Intensification and Innovation in Chemical and Biotechnological Processes (co-leader, UFSC), Development of New Materials from Solid Waste (UFSC) and Modeling, Simulation, Control and Optimization of Processes (FURB). Editor of the Chemical Engineering Journal (CEJ) - Elsevier B.V. Reviewer of scientific articles for several journals. He worked as a visiting professor at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Netherlands. Partner PhotoReAct H2020-MSCA-ITN-2020 - Photocatalysis as a tool for synthetic organic chemistry. Awarded with the FAPESC Research Award 2022 - Fritz Müller (1st edition), Engineering area.
The main research lines are: phenomenological investigation of equipment and processes of interest in Chemical Engineering (involving photocatalysis, electrochemistry, multiphase flow, heat and mass transfer, etc.), chemical reactors, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), process intensification, microfluidics, development of advanced materials and artificial intelligence.
