ELIAS PAIVA FERREIRA NETO
UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE SANTA CATARINAAdjunct Professor (Inorganic Chemistry area) at the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Graduated in Chemistry from the São Carlos Chemistry Institute, University of São Paulo (IQSC-USP). Master in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of São Paulo (EESC-USP). PhD in Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry from the University of São Paulo (IQSC-USP) He completed a sandwich research internship for 1 year at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboraty (USA) developing nanostructured aerogels for application in photocatalysis. He has experience in inorganic chemistry, materials chemistry, synthesis and characterization of functional materials, sol-gel process and heterogeneous photocatalysis. He developed post-doctoral research with a FAPESP scholarship at the Chemistry Institute of UNESP-Araraquara in the period 2018-2022. Leads the Materials Chemistry and Sustainability Group (MatChemSus-UFSC), currently working on the development of hybrid aerogels for photo-assisted removal of contaminants, as well as the development of sustainable materials and strategies for the recovery of rare earth elements in urban and industrial waste
