Dr Morrison is Associate Professor of Forensic Speech Science and Director of the Forensic Data Science Laboratory at Aston University in Birmingham, UK. He is Chair of the British Standards Institution’s Forensic Science Committee, and an active member of the International Organization for Standardization’s Forensic Science Committee. His past appointments include Director of the Forensic Speech Science Laboratory at the University of New South Wales, Scientific Counsel to the Office of Legal Affairs of INTERPOL, and Simons Foundation Visiting Fellow at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences. He has been involved in casework in Australia, Canada, Denmark, England & Wales, Northern Ireland, Sweden, and the United States. He is author of more than 70 publications in forensic science, including being lead author on a 2021-published consensus on validation of forensic voice comparison. Dr Morrison’s research is currently supported by Research England’s Expanding Excellence in England Fund as part of funding for the Aston Institute for Forensic Linguistics 2019–2024.
