Silvio Weschenfelder is a chemical engineer with a distinguished career in the oil and
gas industry. He graduated from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, and
earned his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biochemical Process Engineering from the Federal
University of Rio de Janeiro, investigating the use of ceramic membranes for the
treatment of produced water in offshore oil production units. As a R&D Leader at
Petrobras SA, has focused on solving process problems, optimization, and developing
new technologies for treating produced water in offshore oil production units.
Weschenfelder’s work is driven by the application of innovative technologies to create
value for society, always with a focus on safety and the environment. Collaborates with
universities on industry-applied research, pursuing several publications in high-impact
journals and registered patents, reflecting his commitment to innovation and excellence
in his field of expertise.
