NETHERLANDS

Marie Pizzoccaro-Zilamy received her PhD degree in Chemistry and physical-chemistry of materials in 2017 at the University of Montpellier, France. In 2018, she joined the Inorganic Membranes group at the University of Twente, Netherlands as a post-doctoral fellow. She became a lecturer in 2019 and was appointed in February 2022 as an assistant professor with a special focus on the development and characterization of porous hybrid membranes. In December 2022, she received a 1.6 million Euro grant from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Germany to set up a second location for her new junior research team at the Materials Synthesis and Processing (IEK-1) Institute of the Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany. Over the next five years, Marie and her junior research team located at two different locations will work on the development and characterization of nanostructured robust and defect-free hybrid 2D-nanomaterial-based membranes for challenging liquid and gas separation applications.
