MARCO DI LUCCIO
Dr. Marco Di Luccio received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1995, where he also concluded his doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering in 2001. As a visiting student at the University of Notre Dame, IN, USA, in 1999, his focus was on the development of facilitated transport membranes for monosaccharide fractionation. He is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical and Food Engineering at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). In 2019, as a visiting researcher at the Universität Bremen in Germany, he had the chance to investigate the manufacture of ceramic membranes for membrane emulsification and oil/water separations. He has published more than 180 peer-reviewed papers (h-index 38) and has four patent deposits. As an advisor of around 150 undergraduate and graduate students throughout his academic career, his research focuses on membrane development and membrane modification for fouling control, membrane emulsification for encapsulation of bioactive compounds, and application of membrane processes in the water treatment & reuse and bioprocesses.
